"You can pay people to teach,
But you can't pay them to care."
    -Marva Collins

In second grade I spent almost a month in the hospital and a great deal of time sick at home.  I learned to love reading and was truly amazed at the fact that my teacher seemed to genuinely care about me and my learning.  I looked forward to her hospital visits.

This became the foundation of my desire to teach and to remain in the school system in one way or another for many years and I vowed that I would be the kind of teacher that genuinely cared for her students.

To this day I am truly grateful for the interest she showed in me and I do believe that the best teachers are those who truly care about their students.

Thank you to that wonderful grade two teacher!!
