responsibility for the operation of the school and its reputation appears to
fall upon the shoulders of the school principal. As with
everything else, direction comes from the top down and the school, its
teachers and its students are a testimonial to the effectiveness
of the principal. An administrator who does not become involved in the life of the school and the welfare of
the teachers and students who work within, will soon be left to wonder
why each teacher tends to pursue his/her own agenda.
Just as teachers spread enthusiasm to their students, so principals spread enthusiasm to their teachers.
How sad that administration
is the route that many teachers take when they become tired of being
in the classroom and dealing with students.
How sad too that many teachers feel that the role of administration is
to handle discipline problems that can not be
dealt with in the classroom.
